Sunday Afternoon Party In the Park

Sunday Afternoon Party In the Park

I snapped these pics of Lake Michigan and a bit of the Chicago skyline at my little friend June’s first birthday party yesterday.

This view made me think of George Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte . Remember the guy that painted with dots, and the lady with the umbrella and the monkey on the leash? It’s on permanent display at the Art Institute of Chicago. http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/citi/images/standard/WebLarge/WebImg_000319/8720_3810663.jpg

June’s mom and dad picked a nice place for her birthday celebration. Party goers found themselves certainly beyond the prairie, and somehow just a little beyond the city too.

June happily reflected on the significance of the #1 pulled from her birthday pie.  Yes, that’s right, pie!  She enjoyed blueberry, and her guests scooped up a selection that included chocolate, banana cream, and strawberry/rhubarb.  She is learning early to celebrate with her own unique flair!

June carefully appreciates her pie decoration. Her mom Megan says pies are from Hoosier Mama Pie Company.   That’s a fun name, and pies were yummy.   www.hoosiermamapie.com/

Happy 1st birthday, June — and to mom and dad Megan & Nick!

Whether you prefer city or country, birthday pie or cake, may you always enjoy sharing time with family and friends!
